Below is what i did -
1. pg_start_backup()
2. rsync the data dir
3. pg_stop_backup()
I believe the backup is valid because, i was able to bring up the cluster
without any issues (ofcourse with data loss).

- I had initially rsynced (excluded pg_log) the data directory and the
tarred and zipped the same
