Adding the functionality as a package would be ok, in fact, we are
setting up an image specially made for the courses with some tools we
hope will help the students learn oop (like an object browser an
object inspectors as object diagrams).

But the Save as... doesn't rename the image and changes file, just
creates two files with the updated version number. With a simple batch
file you may send keystrokes to Pharo too and do some automated
building of images daily.

Hi folks. I want to intercept (and do something) for all objects. I know few
approaches, for example:
1) using method wrappers (implementing run: aSelector with: arguments in:
aReceiver) I can wrap all compiled methods of all classes and there I have
the receiver.
2) become all objects to some
mmm... I vote for keep it optional. I don't like panic buttons... well,
maybe just one I seen long time ago, It was a in an arcade game, and if
you press the button, the desktop changed into a "turbo prolog"
screen... it was very useful at the time, in the university lab :)

Hi Igor, at least for me because i didn't have to play with primitives and
plugins. Even though i can, because i created a couple of them.
But i really liked that you can easily code everything in smallttalk, using the
Alien abstractions, and reify the library and the methods in the image.

Does Squeak/Pharo FFI offer a way to get the address of a function in a
library? The target of interest is probably more of an exported global
containing a pointer, but GetProcAddress() worked on Windows, and I am assuming
a similar trick will be required on Linux.

There usually is an operating system call that you feed a "symbol" to that
gives you a memory address.
This address could be:
(a) the start address of executable code.
(b) the start address of read only, or read/write storage for a data element of
some sort.
This is kinda of exposed in the VM
