Also, I want a root install for this instance.
Also, I tried using the ilrt.contentmigrator but, while it installed just
fine, I couldn't get the export function to work properly.

If by "root install" you mean you want to move your Plone site object
from some ZMI folder e.g. /sites/Plone to /Plone in the root of the Z

This worked on 2 of my smaller sites!
While upgrading my main sites I got this error:
PicklingError: Can't pickle : import of module
collective.easyslider.interfaces failed

Not sure if that was the error I was getting, but recently when trying
to get collective.easyslider to work on a Plone 4.1 instance, I had to
pin plone.app.layout in my versions section, such as below:
plone.app.layout = 2.1.8
I'm also using the latest/greatest of easyslider. If you

Heh, yup that sounds like a good approach. You also might check for
Plone 4 versions of those add-ons. If you install them in Plone 4 before
upgrading, you should get past the import error at least.
