I just added PyQt5 binding to PLplot and a corresponding example,
examples/python/pyqt5_example.py. It should be enabled if you are using
Qt5 and you have all the dependencies installed. I tested it and at the
minimum it works on my linux machine :).

I think I gave too many specifics before since if there is a gcc
problem, then it likely has nothing to do with xwin (where my build
happened to fail with the --std=c99 flag). Anyhow, I have changed the
