That is sad to hear. I have never had issue with Mint, and have preferred it
to Ubuntu since 8.04 or so. although these days Im a solid arch user.

The Kubuntu (KDE 4.6) version is totally unusable for NVidia cards.
Kubuntu installs in 640x480 video mode and refuses to allow the upgraded
driver NVidia administrative modul
