David,
I think you and I need to talk about the PLUG web site, and then we
need to talk with others.
You said you are interested in leading an upgrade effort.
This is great.
pdxLinux.org definitely needs some help.
It sort of gets us by, but it hurts PLUG when we need to present

I just put David's Announcement for tonight's general meeting at:

and I have to say that was a royal PITA. It would be easier to just

Some other Linux user groups offer occasional good (and bad) examples:

I might be able to help, though my CMS of choice is Drupal. I'm
pretty overcommitted right now on volunteer projects, but if nothing

Karl Hegbloom built the sites many years ago based on perl and HTML Mason.
He did an excellent job.
Thanks Karl.
Geoff Burling maintained the site content for a long time, but
eventually got too
busy and quit doing this some time ago.
Since then the site has been totally neglected.

If you have been using Wordpress and can transfer the pdxlinux to a new

It's a website that will not bring any new people to it. I guess this group
cares little about getting new people to try Linux out. I don't use it. I've
got my own site to promote Linux.
When this group is ready to get new people to try Linux out. Let me know.

New website? Our host, Wil Cooley, set up a moin-moin instance for
us, so we can all participate in updating the content. So far, few
have contributed. The wiki needs a few anti-spam tweaks, but mostly
it needs participation. We haven't linked to it, allegedly so the
spammers would stay out, b

There's nothing wrong with something being dated so long as it does what
it's meant to do. However it wouldn't hurt to have it look nice either,
if someone is willing to work on it to make it look better then let
them. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.

I agree with David -- a new look could be quite fashionable. (Rich, your

It works, isn't that sufficient?

I don't think anyone's feelings are hurt, it just looks very dated, and
could use a new look. I would do it if the person in charge would contact
me.
Thanks,

Existing web site works for me and thanks to whomever put it up and

Is there anyone in this group that can create a new webite for
http://www.pdxlinux.org/ ? This one looks bad. it's looks like a ten year
made it fifteen years ago. The site could be built with Joomla or Wordpress.
Just a suggestion. This group needs a better website!
