I'm tearing my hair out.
I have a 1TB USB 3.0 drive with two plugs, Type A on one end and Type C
on the other. I bought it to simplify moving files to and from my
laptop and my phone, which is Type C.
I have been told that Android uses EXFAT and Linux can read/write EXFAT
as well, since kernel 5.
There are 3rd party apps on google-play
for external drives, BUT the reviews are not good for paragon

I don't know if this is something you would want to do, but for me playing
music on Android was so annoying, that I went a totally different
direction. I now use a Zune to play my music files on, & that has worked
out a lot better. The biggest limitations being that I have to use an
offline Windo
