Out of curiosity I ran the Arizona test mentioned in the original email.
I am in Apache Junction and am using Mediacom cable. I ran the test as
8:30 Am on a Friday. Results:
16.94 Mbps down
1.77 Mbps up
51 ms ping

I got something like 39M download, 10M up load. But that is at work where
we have a large campus network and lots of shared bandwidth.

I just got 11.09 Mbps downl and 2.05 Mbps up on Mediacom cable in Apache
Junction. I have in the past seen up to 20 Mbps down on another test
site, so it can vary a lot.

Cox has had a full circuit between here and their peering to LA for
probably 6+ months, so this accounts for why you're seeing the latency.
Run an mtr to google and you'll see a good 60-90% packet loss at their
peering hop to LA. Their useless support says it's not real, but it is.

I have to agree. It seems the providers have really managed to fix their
systems so
the burst data rate is awesome. The first 5 megs or so scream!!!
Then it crawls after that.
In Payson I am using SuddenLink (cable) and I love it. I had 7MB CenturyLink
