Unfortunately this list does not want anyone to say anything political.
I am a vet and my heart goes out to those harmed by their service.

The DVDs in question had the annoying trailers, warnings, etc as a
separate vob file from the video that I wanted. I tried deleting the
vob file, but then the menu didn't work. Vobblanker, a windows app that
works under wine allowed me to remove the annoying crap and keep the
menus working.
LOLOL. Thanks for the laugh. I needed it.

If I had this task, I would rip the DVD then use an editor to cut out
the ads. If I were really adventurous, I might even upscale the DVD rip

but not as an everyday replacement to HD.

I knew about the fair use provision, so I couldn't believe that I would
get into trouble for removing the ads for other titles I'm not
interested in. I found VobBlanker. It is a windows program but runs
under wine. It seems to me another legitimate use for such software

Um, that’s actually a copyright issue, not one involving alterations. Frankly,
if you own the physical media, you can do anything with it so long as you don’t
share it with others. That means up to, and including, making a physical backup

Altering a dvd for any reason is against federal law. It displays that on the
beginning of the dvd or Blu-ray.
