If you have a phone line coming in you will need an FXO card. It is good to
remember that FXS provides the voltage, and FXO receives the voltage. Rhino
cards are a great and dependable solution for this!

I've been playing with Asterisk off and on for a few months, it interoperates
with POTS just fine with my configuration. I have found, though, that I have
trouble detecting when cell phones hang up. Of course, I have cheap hardware,
so it's not all that surprising.
