I would like to echo the Rune Lord's sentiments.
I have the Dell 530 Inspiron desktop and 1420 Inspiron laptop and am
quite pleased with both of them.
A great part of my buying decision was the desire to encourage DELL with
Linux distribution and whatever drivers are needed

Look even though Dell is mainstream of all the distro's IMO Ubuntu has
the best chance of unhinging Microsoft's grip on the home user. There
will still be a learning curve but its a start and a promising one.
