I do something like this, also on Linux (FC4). I'm at work now so cannot
post all the details, but here is an outline of how I do it.
I have created accounts: sound1, sound2, Each of these gets a home

Any chance to display the date in german, too?

This should be configurable from the server settings page. I'm not sure
where exactly, but either Formatting or in the DateTime screensaver
settings.

This is with Softsqueeze3.3 on win and ubuntu (from the dl'ed zip) and

You are right, it is the Ubuntu flavour of Linux that my Slimserver runs
with. Now I'll have to see where I have to make the modification you
suggested.

Thanks for this information! Now I voted for it, being the first one to

uses those web sites) to see if the player would pick up the title

I keep trying to think what I can be doing wrong.
I have two user profiles on my mac, one is called John Manuel and is
the Administrator's profile. The other is called Visitor.
In the visitor profile is itunes, slimerserver and where I put the

I'm not sure about the last post and as I said before I don't have an

However I know that Apple seemed to have changed the search path
between versions of OSX and I think in your version /usr/local/bin may
NOT be on the search path.
To test this out - put the mplayer file in /us

I think it would be relatively trivial...you'd need a way of specifying
which server to connect to, but other than that, there'd be hardly a

So mplayer is working ok.
And AlienBBC isn't?
I'm not quite clear what you mean by "profile", presumably you mean
"account". And I'm really unclear what you mean by "In the visitor
profile is itunes, slimerserver and where I put the mplayer".
Where is mplayer? And where is lame?

You need to recap the situation
1. What RTSP boxes are checked in Filetypes
2. When you select Radio4 from AlienBBC the elapsed time increments but
no sound and viusaliser doesn't move - correct ?
3. What player are you using SoftSqueeze or SB3 ?

Have been running Slimserver 6.5.1 & AlienBBC 1.06 for a while, and
originally the AlienBBC Radio programmes and Podcast was fully working.

Thanks. I've posted a new beta (beta11) that uses hashes for both input
and output -- much like my first example in comment #4.
http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher/
Since it uses hashes, this beta's pre-usage check API is NOT backwards
compatible with the beta9/beta10 code.
