So what have I missed? That post just says that you will follow
instructions to build mplayer. Maybe you mentioned elsewhere what the
results of that were.

Alternatively, you download SoftSqueeze through the slimserver site,
somehow the IP address of the Slimserver is added to the configuration
if you do that.
I run Slimserver at home on an XP box, but sometimes run SoftSqueeze on
my notebook in the office or in the hotel while I am traveling.

At least not untill I remembered some instructions written in the

You'll need to create an account but it only takes a moment. Don't
forget to have a really good search first to make sure you're not
duplicating something.

OK - looking back at the start of this thread - you started by having
problems installing AlienBBC and we noticed that mplayer needed to be
right before doing anything with AlienBBC.
So now back to getting AlienBBC installed.
1. What is the filename which you used to install AlienBBC ?
2. Did
Sorry Danco.I've no idea why I said post 13 when the above is in

I've been getting a message that says softsqueeze freezes on connecting
to squeezebox whenever I open softsqueeze. This has been happening
since I upgraded to slimserver 6.5.1. I have tried every suggestion on
here, including uninstalling softsqueeze and then installing
softsqueeze 2.3, all to no
Is it possible to test the patch on my 6.5.0 installation? If yes: How

Yes, the Strings.pm file has been unchanged since 6.5.0. You either need
the patch utility or can do it manually - the two lines are simple enough
to edit.

Just before moving to alien, I have lame mplayer in Usr/local/bin. I
moved both to Usr/bin. I don't Know if this is a mac thing or the same
happens with a pc, but when I moved them theykind of split. So now
they are in both locations.
I did install Alien from the location you say. I
As I said I don't have a Mac so al I can do is ask probing questions.
1. Was there a Plugins folder on your system or did you create one to
copy the contents of Plugins folder of the AlienBBC tar folder ?
2. What Plugins are currently in the Plugins folder ?
3. Can you start Slimserver from a
I don't think I created a plugin folder. It is possible that I moved one
there, but I don't think I did. In which case one was already there.

Running SlimCD off a 1 GByte USB pen drive: I scanned my 8,000 track

the folder art. I like this. I have been running Slimserver for a day
this way and playing music, with no more major issues.

The one issue that came up, is when rebooting SlimCD off a USB pen
drive, the file system that contains the music library was not mounted
automatically. I imagine all that is required is to place a mount
command in /opt/bootlocal.sh to fix that permanently.
Exactly. That is the reason there's
Hello. I am having a problem with Softsqueeze crashing. I have
verified and reproduced the crash on 2 completely different systems,
having tried XP, and Vista both on one of the systems, and several
versions of Java from 1.4.x all the way up to the newest version 1.6.
I can reproduce this on
