Will which find the top level mplayer (but wrong one for AlienBBC) in
both the default and your installation ?
Will whereis find the mplayer where you installed it ?
If either of these work then they may be able to be used to provide the
mplayer path in mplayer.sh

Does the list of Alien BBC stations in the latest CS7 beta work
correctly? I though I might have messed mine up but I've reinstalled
and used the Reset to Defaults facility but the station menu still
seems a bit odd. For instance the BBC Radio item is last in the menu.

To get Feedback like this is one of the reason for a beta release.
The AlienBBC was changed to the opml based menu as used in the rest of
SC - this greatly simplified the AlienBBC code but some compromises
such as loss of headers. Also any changes to menu display would have
to be made in SC and
I'm pleased to report that following Danco's instruction and extracting
mplayer from mplayer_intel within mplayer GUI/resources/external
binaries works fine using SS6.5.5 - thanks Danco.
In answer to the OP - yes the quoted file works with AlienBBc 1.06,
SS6.5.5 and OS 10.5.1 on an Intel mac.
Thanks for the great explanation bpa.
It looks like there may still seems a reasonble amount of work to do in
SC7. I've just posted what now appears to be a related subject about the
way favourites work.
My vote (as always) is for drag and drop menu ordering! Not being able
to move items up and
I can't find any way in the AlienBBC settings to move items up and down
the menu listing. The only way I can find to do it is to delete all the
items and then add them back in the required order one by on

It's just struck me that the SC7 Favourite issue I've just posted about
in the Beta/New Default Skin thread muight be an AlienBBC issue as I've
not seen the same problem in SC7 Favorites with entries made from
another plugin (Shoutcast for instance).
FYI:
Just updated with the 24th - and the page is now there.
LazySearch is now working on the SB3 too :)

I'm hoping we can make this a simple process of just downloading and
installing mplayer from http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html and
that a modified mplayer.sh will find the files it installs.
In answer to Bryan's question - they are not available on the path, but
I need to look into it

Aah.. superb. I mnay have missed it, but if not a note on the settings
page to say that you can drag and drop items would be handy... mind
you, it'd be handier if I could drag and
There's some odd stuff going on when I use drag and drop in the AlienBBC
settings to rearrange the top level menu items... apart for the items
not always dropping to the right place, after a while the list changes
and becomes the SC7 Favourites list. How wierd is that?

I have just tried which and whereis.
whereis does not seem to do anything on my Mac.

Given that the screen is more horizontal a fireplace screensaver would
probably work better. For quick refreshes this would probably have to
be supported in the firmware. The size of fire could probably be
influenced by the type of music you're playing. The display also seems

Looks like we need to do our own check for the mplayer location. Given
that there are multiple executables we need to pick the right one in

For OSX 10.4 on intel I get:

Could someone with a power pc mac try the same uname commands and
report back. Also

The previous method works good. I'm not sure what this method
accomplishes. Which plugin currently uses this method?

Googling for altivec indicates that it is not (or not ONLY) the OS, but
the machine.
G4 and G5 machines have altivec, G3s do not.

The location of th eplugin directory is:
/raid/data/module/SLIMSERVER/slimserver/Plugins
You will need the SYSuser and SSHD modules installed and a SSH client
to do the uploading of the files to the server.
Putty or SSH secure Shell which I use. These are free.
