Hello bpa. I tried installing your 3 addon files in the place you
instructed but I can't see any iPlayer level in Alien. Where should it
appear? I'm not sure what version of Alien I have, but pretty up to
date, I think; for Mac; where do I check for version number?

Found it in plugins but when i tick the box to enable the plugin, it
asks me to restart the server before the action takes effect.

The 404 message associated with "settings" error has number of causes
and it can happen with any plugin.
One cause is multiple installation/removal of plugins leaving behind
unused directories or levels of directories. Check that
server/Plugins and all subdirectories that there are no excess
I get the following message in settings/advanced/ plugins
404 Not Found: settings/plugins/Alien/settings/basic.html
(this has only been an issue since installing 7.1(2))
I used the install pack for alienbbc and the alienfolder has installed
into squeezecenter/server/plugins/alien

Not her fault - it is very hard to avoid MS insistence on automatic

The BBC have been moving parts of radio web site to iPlayer and I
thought they had started modifying the live stream URLs so I didn't
mind checking.

Nothing changed in URL - still works for me with 7.0 and AlienBBC 2.0.
The problem is probably network congestion at your end.
If in doubt - get a log with plugin.alienbbc set to DEBUG and
player.source set to DEBUG.

hi Alien bbc 4 live seems to have stopped working properly in the latest
build. the play again still works as does planet Rock tuned in via My
radio stations. Clicking tries to connect, but then it fails. When it
does work it takes a while to connect. (eg 15 seconds with R3)

I have installed The Lyrics plugin on my SBC but it is not working. If I
go to the page www.lyrdb.com (I guess that this is the source) the page
is full of MySQL error - so I guess that the server is not sized for a
lot of trafic.
Is there an alternative source for Lyrics that could be used ?

A common cause of no Menus is that you may have installed AlienBBC into
the wrong directory.
As a check what is the full path for the file RTSP.pm which is one of
the AlienBBC plugin files.

Under Internet Radio (either on WebUI or SB or SBC) there is a Menu
item,AlienBBC. Select this menu and you will get more menu specific to
BBC.
The BBC have just altered their website so the Radio 1, Radio 2, 5Live
and 6Music "Listen Again" will not show entries. Updates are needed.
For testing
I don't have a Windows PC near but from memory the Plugins/WaveInput
directory should have
* Plugin.pm
* WAVIN.pm
* install.xml
* a file with a .conf extension.
There should be just wavin2cmd.exe (or similar) in the Bin directory.

We're in limbo at the moment as BBC changeover and will remain so until
iPlayer comes out of beta.
Some Listen Again menus are old format (e.g. World Service), some are
both (e.g. Radio 3 & 4) and some are only iPlayer (e.g. Radio 1 &2 )
and so for the moment AlienBBC has to reflect the BBC menus
