Hi Gordon
Just a quick thank you and to say that I just installed the new beta
version and it solved the problem I had where the server would not go to
stand by after sleep under version 7.4.
Out of my curiousity, I wonder where's the SrvrPowerCtrl folder

Hello fellow squeezers,
This post started as a question but in writing it and checking what I
actually had installed, I solved it, and I'm now listening to BBC Radio
through the iPlayer plugin on my Squeezebox. :)
I had an (almost) working Squeezeboxserver running on my OpenSuse11.2

How can I tell when the update is out? I can't even find where plugin
versions are displayed. (and what version should I luck for)
I am assuming that when you post an update my sb server will let me
know and ask if it should download it?

This may seem obvious to those in the know, but it took me quite a
while to realise that WMA /in perl/ isn't supported within the

I bow to your superior knowledge of course, but my experience was simply

It sounds like your player does not support WMA or you have disabled
native support.
What type of player do you have ?
Have you enabled Bit rate Limiting for this player ?
In WebUI Settings/Advanced/Filetypes what are values for the settings
for Windows Media - Flac and Windows Media native ?
If you are using the WaveInput plugin on Windows then add the following
line into the file WAVIN.pm (edit using Wordpad not Notepad) and restart
SBS.
The value represent buffer size - if it is too small you will get
stuttering so the optimum value depends on your processor, network etc.
Code:
I'm using SqueezeboxServer-7.4.1
I had problems with the configuration of WaveInput.
Thats the reason why I'm using some other programs which are normally

What does the sub-pufferthreshold do? Maybe its interesting to get it

If you're using something that puts out a radio stream, make sure it's
configured with a reasonable burst size on connect, this way your
streams will start almost instantly.

I don't have a hardware player, I am testing this before I shell out
the money for one; although I am already at the stage that it works well
enough for me to go ahead and get one, being able to
So are you trying to get real-time playback of your PC audio on SB?
Because that's a hopeless cause, you'll never get the latency down that
low. If you don't care about the latency, there's probably some combo
of Winamp + some plugin + Icecast that can work and allow fast startup
when streaming
Uff.
Yea, that was what I got managed. And you are rigth, it was about 5
seconds.
But what are the reasons for such a long delay?
If I look at the technic behind the SB I can imagine to geht a delay
blow 1 second.
And if we came back to your idea to connect to another radio..
You remember I was
So you can do streaming 2 ways:
Instant start as close to realtime as possible. To do this you could
edit the code to reduce the buffer startup values, but the problem with
this is that the player now has a very tiny amount of wiggle room for
any network problems. Any blip at all will result
A real Squeezebox hardware player which can play WMA natively has none
of these problems and you'll be happy with a Radio. In fact for BBC you
should be using the AAC streams (i.e. deselect WMA) as it will also show
BBC iPlayer art and better quality audio.

Use DSbridge when playing Spotify. Spotify does strange things with
audio subsystem which doesn't work well with WaveInput.
There will always be a delay due to buffer and network transmission -
so vide and audio will not sync - you will need a player that can delay
video compared to audio and
I managed it to get the stereomix working.
But every time I run wavin2cmd it crashed itself and made an anoying

Do you have any solution for it?

You must stop and restart SBS each time you change the file. Close the
file after each edit - windows caching can create strange effects.
I don't think it should matter but don't put it at the very end of the
file - one line before the end and add a ; such as
Code:
I did it like you said:
return ${*$self}{'contentType'};
}
sub bufferThreshold { 250 } ;
1;
But I can't hear any difference between different numbers.
Any idea?
