uninstalled it and re-installed it. for the moment I am back to normal.
Btw, the left pain of material/desktop doesn't show properly in my
browsers: firefox, chrome, or edge.

deactivate the swipe when a dialog was opened, but sometimes this would
get 'stuck' and swipes would stop wo
