IT WORKED!
How peculiar...I then reverted back to my original username and password
and that worked too.
It looks like one of those quirks but thanks to all those who helped.

Hi,
As far as I can see there is no setting to disable tooltips while
hovering over an album cover. Could such setting to switch off the
tooltip be introduced in a future Material version? The tooltip adds
little to nothing IMHO.
