I sort-of gave up because of laziness but did do quite a bit of research
and experimentation, including with a scope, beforehand. I do not recall
anything about the signal being inverted but I was looking just at the
IR-input, not something labelled NADLink.

Triode, I suspect that it must be more than just a single corrupt byte.
Otherwise the decoder would just skip the corrupt frame and continue (I
think).

So, 50:58 @ 192kb/s is the same number of bits as 1:16:27 @ 128kb/s.
Triode, can you try downloading the stream to a local file and then
play that either through SC and/or using alternate MP3 players. I
cannot do this as I'm not in the UK.

post a complete logfile from song start until after the problem occurs
(it will be big, so please compress it with ZIP for similar) then maybe
we can see what is going on.
I suspect that the real problem may be that you are trying to listen to

this a problem with the argument-requoting in mplayer.sh. That said,
these mplayer wma rules work fine for me with BBC wma streams.
