Hi Erland,
After som inital trouble, I've gotten everything to work together just

Dear Erland,
Your Wiki-page describing how to integrate ratings, iPeng, the
SqueezeBox display, iTunes Update and iTunes is great.
I have one question, though. It seems that when I use iTunes Update and
TrackStat at the same time, then ratings made on the "now playing"

Hi Erland,
Thanks for your patience :-) Seems to be that I had not set the path to
the iTunes XML file.
For future revisions you could as a default assume "default location"
here (that is on a mac "~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music Library.xml")
Thanks - I'll let you know if this helps (or post a l

TrackStat will overwrite them, because most people don't want the
iTunes ratings to overwrite any ratings you have set in SqueezeCenter

k, I see you knew that already. But given the info it seems to me that

OK, here it is. Including some explanation about the folder structure:

Looks like enough info to write a scanner to me...

It's stored in a subdirectory structure similar to the one the SC cache
uses. There's also

iTunes is a pita because they're using a proprietary format. If you want to get
started, take a look at James' iTunes update plugins.

Not as far as I know.
I'm not sure how the artwork is stored in iTunes, if it's available in
the iTunes xml file it should be fairly simple to make a scanning
module for this.

er
Erland,
there doesn't happen to be an iTunes Artwork import module for
CustomScan?

James, did you see my note above reg. the installation instructions?
Ignorant as I am when it comes to CPAN, I actually wasted a few hours
not being aware of that requirement about 6 months ago.

Hmmm...actually that track which I noticed this with DO have artwork,
but it was different from the rest of the records artwork.
When I replaced the artwork with the artwork from the rest of the
songs, then it immediately showed up in the SC interface. So presumably
this could be an issue with th

If you do, how have you configured the Custom Scan sca
Hi again,
I've now done some testing. It seems that my rated tracks in iTunes do
*NOT* show their rating in iPeng when using iTunes Update + TrackStat.
What goes wrong? The rating set using TrackStat in iPeng is transferred
to iTunes w/o problems.
Another strange detail here: The cover art

I just read the code and it looked like the cliSaveRating function only
logged stuff but never actually changed the rating, but I guess I must
have missed something

At the moment you would need either TrackStat or iTunes Update plugin
to change ratings in SqueezeCenter, there is currently no functionality
in SqueezeCenter itsel

This was an impressively detailed answer!
Now, the issue at hand is that I wish to rate from iPeng. As far as I
know i will then have to use TrackStat.
I currently have 2) and 3) installed. This seems to make it possible to
rate on iPeng and have the data transferred to iTunes (I am working on

Hi all,
I have now done a bit more research, and I've run into a potential
issue:
- Rating Data from TrackStat seems to be transferred to iTunes once in
a while.
- Ratings already made in iTunes are shown in iTunes Update but not in
TrackStat
Is this to be expected - that ratings made in iTu

So you've got a headless computer with iTunes on it? Win or Mac? Do you
export the iTunes database from there and import it on your MacBook?
Or do you use a separate DAAP server on your headless system?

Hi there,
A small note here: There is an active mode for iTunes Update which
sends the info back to iTunes. This seems to work fine.
Only thing that does not work is that the combination of iTunes Update
/ CustomBrowse / TrackStat seems to be capable of slowing my server to
a grinding halt, re

My experience says: that's iTunes Update (but my experience is PC only.
And the reason there clearly is iTunes (as I can
getting trackstat to work with itunes on a mac has been a problematic
situation. here's a thread that shows how to get it to work but it
seems like more work than it's worth at the moment. perhaps down the
road the integration will be simpler for osx.

Hi all,
Could be that this is in the TrackStat documentation, but I am a bit
confused, so better ask:
I'd like to
a) Rate my music from my SqueezeBox (e.g. through iPeng..or directly on
the Box)
b) Have these ratings added to my iTunes library automactically
c) Have all ratings from my iTune
