thin.npr.org doesn't seem to be working again - looks like it's an auth
problem on their end. This stream won't play:

That's good - I only use the plugin occassionally so I don't check it
regularly
I posted on another thread that NPR replied to my email and they said
they didn't know how long it would take to fix. Now it's fixed - I
haven't got any email saying they fixed it.
Same here! Looks like it's still broken. I suppose they don't have
people using it with screen readers, or have browsers caught up and the
thin site is a relic?
plympton's Profile:
I'm wagering they don't have an incentive to fix it, unfortunately. I
have started looking for podcast RSS feeds to help stem the loss.

The problem is not the site is broken but rather the WMA playlists are
not being generated. This may be an accident or it may be that NPR
wants to stop WMA support and only provide full programs via Flash
audio.
The broadcast vs podcast issue relates to rights and not necessarily
relating to
I have a hunch that could be what NPR is doing, unfortunately. I like
to listen to Morning Edition later in the day sometimes, and there's no
podcast for that.
I was wondering how hard it would be to scrape (UGH!) the download
links on the Rundown page? From a scraping perspective, it looks
More thinking out loud.
Looks like the programs that could be scraped this way are:
*All Things Considered*,

*Morning Edition*,
http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=3
*Talk of the Nation*,
Two problems with using the graphical page and Flash audio
* Years ago the first version fo the NPR plugin scraped the graphical
pages to get the URLs - it was a real pain to keep up to date as NPR
kept making small changes every few months.
* Flash audio does not seem to have a rtmp URL so it
I don't propose using the flash links, but the readily downloadable .mp3
file links. Easily streamsable by any squeezebox.

The plugin relies on the text version of NPR - thin.npr.org and this
seems to be broken. This hapopens every so often - I have sent NPR a
message. As thin.npr.org is intended for users with impaired sight, it
usually gets fixed quickly but I suspect NPR may drop it in the future.
bpa-
thanks for your response. along with erland's line of plugins, your NPR
plugin is an absolute essential part of my listening experience with my
squeezeboxes.
thanks for making it available to us.

i did a quick search and found nothing.
none of my npr program links (which live inside the NPR Plugin) are

anyone else out there having this problem?

Yes, I contacted NPR to bring this to their attention, hopefully they
will correct it soon.

Thanks, I replied to their original response.
The thin site seems to be back online again. I noticed that the
Podcasts item in SC doesn't work and when I checked thin.npr.org, I
don't see it listed. Have you implemented that differently?

The NPR podcast opml has an error.
You can see this if you open the URL in firefox.
http://www.npr.org/rss/podcast/opml.php
Although firefox identifies the problem area at line 4356 col 4 - I
cannot see the problem - it may be a hidden character.

The NPR Plugin seems to have stopped working. All the folders are empty.
It used to work fine till yesterday. I see that http://thin.npr.org
shows the full graphics version (http://www.npr.org) instead of the
text-only version which the plugin probably expects. Is that the issue?
Thanks

The NPR Web site tells listeners to write to podca...@npr.org to ask
them to add your favorite podcast. I'm not hopeful this will have
short-term consequences, but it can't hurt to voice our support for All
Things Considered and other programs unavailable as podcasts.
As more devices get
