Is there a plugin for Slimserver that enables recording of radio
programmes directly? There are some progs that I would like to keep.

Not in Squeezecenter to record.
I use radioshark2 to listen to radio stations and you can control
Radi
If you're looking for recordings of BBC shows then you may want to look
at get_iplayer ( http://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer/ ) which will
deliver high quality MP3 downloads of their last seven days output.
Works very nicely!
There are various ways to stream and capture FM, DAB and DVB-T/S
services
Thanks Phil, I'll have a look at get_iplayer when I have a bit more
time. I'm not a Linux person even though I have a Linux based server
for Squeezecenter so I'm sure I'll need to check carefully.

I've been thinking about what a recording plugin would look like.
To use - add a menu to a playing URL "right arrow" (e.g. just like "Add
to favorites", "More Info") which would start an instance of VLC using
the playing URL - this would avoid all the parsing and messing as SC
will have got the w

I've also been thinking about better options for recording off-air
"live" streams, as although get_iplayer and the iPlayer plugins work
well they're us
I've taken a different approach. A linux script that uses mplayer to
rip a stream. If its mp3, I just rip it. If its something else, I
capture a wave and lame it to mp3. The script takes a time and records
that many minutes from the url you specify.

And believe it or not, the get_iplayer author lives just 16 miles from

get_iplayer also can get programmes automatically using it's PVR
functionality. Basically you just setup a PVR entry in get_iplayer
based on programme name and it will download it, transcode it if
