If you're looking for recordings of BBC shows then you may want to look at get_iplayer ( http://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer/ ) which will deliver high quality MP3 downloads of their last seven days output. Works very nicely! There are various ways to stream and capture FM, DAB and DVB-T/S services

I've taken a different approach. A linux script that uses mplayer to rip a stream. If its mp3, I just rip it. If its something else, I capture a wave and lame it to mp3. The script takes a time and records that many minutes from the url you specify. I have cron jobs which kick of the recorder
