Not here. There seem to be different versions of SoftSqueeze then,
unfortunately I can't remember from where I downloaded mine.

The executable for Softsqueeze is always a SoftSqueeze.jar file. If it
was installed using JavaAWS and a JNLP file then the jar file will be
hidden in a cache directory for use with Java apps.
If you are on a Linux or OSX - be careful about case of letters - it is
SoftSqueeze.jar and not

Yes, but I also have a softsqueeze.exe along with it, and the desktop
shortcut points to that .exe file, not to the .jar file.

Certainly I can't find a softsqueee.exe as I had already looked for

Are you trying to launch softsqueeze on the same PC as SBS or on a
different PC ?

SBS is running on a different PC.
However I do have an old version of SBS running on this PC (the
softsqueeze PC) and the only way I can launch softsqueeze on this PC is
to first fire up the old SBS, and then launch SS via the web UI. Very
cumbersome! It used to just launch from a shortcut, but

Softsqueeze has been removed from recetn SBS distributions. The
distributed softsqueeze v3.7 no longer works well with 7.3.2 and
higher.
Install the community Softsqueeze plugin and you will get a link as
well.

Thanks - but I installed softsqueeze via the squeezecenter UI, and as
you say the shortcut used to be on my desktop. But now it has gone - no
ide why - maybe i deleted it by accident. If I install SS again via the
UI the shortcut doesn't appear, and hence I can only start SS via the
UI which is a
It's just the path to softsqueeze.exe, nothing more.

There is no softsqueeze.exe - it is a Java softsqueeze.jar file. So to
run it create a shortcut with the command
java -jar softsqueeze.jar

The shortcut for starting SoftSqueeze on my XP Machine was deleted. I
can still start via the website (http://:9000/) on my SqueezeCenter
(ReadyNAS)and it works OK.
What is in the properties of the shortcut so I can restore the
shortcut?
Thanks
