Finally I found the reason for some groups that couldn't be expanded - it
happens when they have the same name as the category to which they
belongpretty simple but obviously not enough for me :-(

Like I said, there are groups in my TOC that can't be expanded to show the
legend, but some of them can. Clicking on a group link (for those groups
that can't be expanded) this group becomes hidden
I have discovered that this is only happening when the categories are
enabled. If not,
