Dear users,
I have a problem while trying to import a raster into PostGIS
(2.0.0SVN), using WKTRaster (0.1.6d), on a Debian system.
This is a raster exported from GRASS as GeoTiff, using a float32 format
(this is a density map). I then used:
mathieu@Caribou$ /usr/lib/postgresql/8.4/bin/gdal2rast
I have a geography(Point,4326) column with a gist index with ~700K
records. A simple query using the ST_DWithin() is taking about 15
secs. Any pointers from the resident experts?

Hi,
Thanks for this response. Regarding the indices, I was mainly asking if
an index on the point column has any value as the bounding box of a
point is trivial.
Based on the suggestions you mentioned, I decided to dump my
multipolygons to polygons and splice up my continent polygons to make
