Don't know much about the PB140, but try this link for lot's of info.

About 1/3 of the way down there's a link for older GV software, if that's
what is in the machine.
Best of luck,

I just came back from Pearl Arts and Craft store where I bought a piece of
felt 8 1/2X11 for all of 22 cents. Fits perfectly in my Lombard over the
keyboard without cutting to fit. The pb closes easily, this keeps the keys
from marking the screen either from contact or the oil from fingers.

I know the Toshiba repair facility I used to work for
uses a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and water for
cleaning both screens and case plastics. (That was
recommended by Toshiba) Personally, I don't think it
works great - but it does work. I usually will

Is there any way to expand memory on a 5300 using the Type
II card slots?
For example, can one make a RAM Disk, using memory from say,
a Type II memory card and place the operating system onto that?
If so, is system performance improved?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Hi, does anyone know if an internal e-net card on the 1400 will interfere with
stacking ram? TIA.

I made a 64 meg CF boot disk with Norton etc. on it, as a
repair tool.
Pardon for my ignorance, Is CF compact flash the same as PC card or PCMCIA card? also,
can I also use CF 64meg in my pb3400?
Thanks in advance for any information.

You might try a compact flash card with a pcmcia adapter. That would
show up as ram.

CF is compact flash indeed; you buy a $15 CF to PCMCIA
If it works in the 1400 and 5300 as I have, it can only work better in a
fancy-dancy 3400 ;)
*Smile* yes, yes *sigh* fancy-dancy 3400 indeed - gsh. Everyone on
this list knows, of course, just to be clear, that a 1400 properly
souped up is about as fancy-dancy as they get *he he he* ;-)
Success!
Well, partial success at least. I got a little bored this afternoon
and decided to play around w/ my CS motherboard... I pulled out my
trusty 15W soldering iron, some tweezers, and a toothpick and
succeeded in upclocking my 100MHz 603e based 5300cs to 116.7MHz !!!

Did I send you the 1/2 meg VRAM simm or was that another guy ?
Tee hee... That was me. ;-)
I haven't mentioned it yet because ... I haven't gotten it to work yet.
Thanks so much for the VRAM though!
I soldered it in just fine and my initial testing w/ a circuit tester

Michael,
You can use a Compact Flash card (or any card that has a type II PCMCIA reader, I'd
guess) as a quasi-hard drive (that's how it shows up on the desktop) for virtual
memory or for cache memory in web browsers. It does NOT increase the amout of RAM you
can use, so use as a RAM disk is
I did share some correspondence where it was implied that there might be
a difference between manufacturers and achieving success with my intended
use, but I never bought another brand to try it out. I also received
correspondence from 1400 owners which said this application (boot disk)
