I was wondering where I could find tutorials on connecting a Mac to a PC via
TCP/IP or AppleTalk or something like that?
Would I be able to use the internet on the Mac via a Wintel PC (Win2k
internet connection sharing) which has the modem in it?
thanks,

is it safe to use a PB 2400 power adapter on a PB 3400c (it works and
they claim to give out the same volts) and are there any good
methods/ links to instructive sites/ for resoldering the

Those will not work, as the holes the screws are set into are smaller
than the big part of those tips and the tip isn't long enough to reach
the screws.

I have a 12x CDROM Apple Model M3628(TEAC CD211E) from a PB 1400c/166. The
drive suffered damage when the laptop fell off a table. (PB is fine). The
faceplate tray and laser are fine, but the locking mechanism plastics (the
thing that locks the tray in during cd operation) has broken loose
P.S. Would another TEAC mechanism (such as the CD224e, a 24x drive) work in
place of the original drive also work if I cannot get it fixed? Any help is
greatly appreciated.
Yes.

I just got one (turned out to be a VST, which is a good name in batteries
for Macs) from SmartDisk.
Look at: http://www.smartdisk.com/WinterBlowoutPricing.htm $49.98 is the
best price I've ever found for a new battery. They are on sale for 1/2 the
normal $99.95 (which is still a decent price)

the cheapest around here is too just change the inside of the old
hrm
well it would work for the t-8, seeing as all the t-8's are not recessed,
besides, the torx bitset would always come in handy :)

I have found the bad part on the PB 1400 12x CDROM drive, Model M3628. The

Hmm, last I heard, there were no 16-bit PCMCIA USB cards for
Macintosh. They all require CardBus slots. The 1400c does not have
CardBus. Thus, you cannot use USB on a 1400c.
Otherwise, I also seem to recall that the OS 8.1 USB extensions ONLY
work on the iMac. That is, I'm pretty sure that

Nope, never seen a 16-bit USB card. Probably not one, that I know of.
I hope the following is not offensive to this discussion group.

Hi. I posted awhile back (months ago) on problems with my

only to reboot it tonight, and discovered something strange: Before, it
looked like the screen was dead. Now, the screen's not dead - there's a
