I've had troubles when connecting to a switch (friends cable network) that was set to 100mb, he had to set the port to "auto" in order for me to connect. Not sure if that is the issue, but if everything seems good on the machine, I'd check the other end of the connection. -- PowerBooks is sponso

You may have a bad battery, it may need to be charged, the PRAM battery may need to be replaced, or the PRAM or Power Manager may need to be reset. Does the 1400 startup on the AC power adapter? The "Help" menu should explain how to reset the Power Manager/PRAM. Replacing the PRAM battery is not
