a RAM disk (35mb) on my 5300. Now I want to increase its size to about 45

I started up off the hard drive, took all files out of the RAM disk,

Hi,
Is there any way to upgrade the processor in the Powerbook 5300 line? And did
any of the 5300s come with a secondary cache?
Thanks,
Craig W.

THe only way to upgrade the CPU is to desolder it and resolder a
faster one down. A very non-trivial task, but something I am working
on.
No L2

I use ImageAXS 4.1 on my 1400, it's pretty handy. One of my main
uses for the 1400 is to offload images from my digital camera when
I'm on trips, via PCMCIA CF and smartmedia adapters (who needs USB??
this is a better solution...)

As a side note, my 5300cs/e (5300cs overclocked to 117MHz) works
great. However, I find that leaving it turned on for weeks at a
time tends to introduce strange video artifacts (like the pointer
leaving parts of itself all over the display when it moves). Like I
said, this only happens if
Drew, it could be a heat related problem. Maybe if you had a beefier
heat sink ?
Yeah, I figured. The heat sink could probably use some thermal
grease. The heat sink itself can't really be made any beefier (space
is very limited in the 5300), but it doesn't exactly make firm
contact with the

Well, I guess I may have to pick up a new pram battery. Hopefully its not
the GLOD. DUM DE DUM DUM DU... Josh, I tried your suggestion but no
such luck. Hopefully the replacement battery will do the trick. Not in too
much of a rush but maybe pick one up next week if I can find one on

Also, I knew those were NiMH batteries - don't know why I typed NiCad? Maybe I
shouldn't email when I've just got back home from the pub :)
All the best,

Just back from the pub, eh? Man, no fair!!! ;-)
I hear some pubs over in the UK are experimenting with wireless

Ok,
So I know Schlotsky's was experimenting with free wireless Internet
access in Texas for a while... Has anyone been there?
I was thinking it would be fun to put together a list of free Wi-Fi
hot-spots (like at Starbucks or Borders, but FREE) or at least to
hear people's experiences with

Well, I've got an interesting follow-up to make. Basically tried a twist of
what Josh suggested. Removed battery, then plugged in AC Adapter, powered
right up. Put battery back in, let it charge up. But get this! Unplugged
AC, let computer run on battery. Not low power mode nor sleep. The
