Try one of the newer builds available at: http://wamcom.org/
They are off the 1.3 branch and in my experience (on my 9.1 333MHz 1400c) have been
zippier.

Feed it more memory than the default, if you can. It is a memory hog,
but giving it enough memory really speeds it up and eliminates
crashing.

one of those OS 8.x install CDs that came with the G3 macs would work, or

I think a bigger worry is the processor. Performance would not be optimal.

Sure were! I've got a couple of different types, one a small box scarcely

Hi all
A couple of weeks ago an item circulated re changing cells in PowerBook
1400 NiMH battery. Anyone know a website/forum where instructions are
shown as my battery, one of three, has turned up its toes no doubt with
a deceased cell.

I'm monitoring eBay, but if anyone comes across a PB 190 PPC

alert me. (My PB 190 is a sentimental unit so I'm into upgrading it,
not replacing it.).

Try a Proxim Skyline 802.11b PC card.
Works perfectly in my 1400.
Should work in your 5300.

I just got a Powerbook 160 (model M4550) that may or may not work. The guy
who sent it claims it works, but he also said it was coming with a power

If you want to turn your 190 into a 5300, you can do it just as easily by
buying a 5300 motherboard and installing it into your 190 case, as to try to
find one of those upgrade cards which are very rare. The 190 and 5300, as I
understand it, are basically the same system with a different CPU

I kind of doubt it. I can do it on a 3400c/240, but only if I don't try to
do anything else with the system while it's playing. I bet a 1400/117 would
choke on a VCD, but I could be

Jim,
I'm using a Proxim Skyline 802.11b card in my 5300cs. Works like a
charm. The drivers work for the 190 and 5300. Here's where I bought
