advice re loose plastic on 3400/ 3500 CD drive

Advice please: I have a CD drive from a powerbook 3400/ 3500 laptop. The CD drive is working but the plastic area which you grasp to pull the drive from the laptop is loose at one end and I fear it will break off with the drive still inside the laptop. Could someone please tell me how this

Please correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't the control strip (and the control panel) show 640x480 as well as 800x600? I only get 800x600 as the available resolution and this cannot use thousands since 512 mb is not enough for 800x600. Also at some point there was only 832x624 available

I just got a new to me 3400c at a flea market. It had the HD drive stripped out. I did get a drive housing but the HD drive cable is missing and it's missing a number of screws.Other than that it all seems okay. It did have a 32Mb RAM card so that helps. It came with only a floppy but
