I have a PB190 running OS 7.5.2 that I am trying to get on-line. I've
been trying to use MacPPP to set up my modem, and I can get my Xircom
Credit Card Modem 56T to dial out, but it won't go past the
authentication stage. I also have a Global Village PowerPort Gold that

A friend gave me a 3400c to see if I can bring it back from the dead.
It has 48 Mb and OS 8.6. At first I tought that the Power Supply was
bad, and left it connected with a Yo-Yo PS all night. I found the
bottom of the PowerBook extremely warm. Almost hot to the touch.

I've been having trouble, as my earlier post will tell. I've narrowed it
to the Gateway Address. According to the help desk at my local ISP, I
should leave it blank, but the computer is telling me to specify one. I
have it set to server under Obtain Address. Please help. If the error

Have you started it with extensions off? Also, the 3400 does get hot on
bottom. Make sure the feet in back are out so that some air circulates
around the computer.

Before doing anything, IMMEDIATELY upgrade to any version of Mac OS
higher than 7.5.2. 7.5.5 is a free download from apple. 7.5.2 is
famous for being the most unstable Macintosh operating system version
ever made.
