Dear Aydin.
I have an emergency disk for 190. The 190s need an 'enabler' with the
older OSes, I dont rember from when it was no longer necessary,
somebody on the list knew some time ago.
I have never used it. I got the Norton programme and created a Disk
Doctor start disk that I use
Thanks to everybody for responses! I certainly got some clues, for
instance to try without the apple module. And I will understand if a
guy in Namibia wont be greatful. One of the two modules I intend to
buy is for him, he helpe me out with a power supply while I was
travelling there.
Donna and Bruce.
I have the manual as a pdf (2Mbyte). I can send it if you want, got it
myself last year from someone on this list.
Thanks to you both for your regular contributions to the list, many times
most useful to me!
Best,
Christopher

try for a 166c if you can get it as the 166 has a later ROM (the 177
and most 133 units cannot be upgraded to 166 but will still take G3
cards)
No, the Sonnet works with ALL the ROMs!
- Sometimes there are conflict problems with running OS 8.6 or 9.0, but in

1) I have several times seen covers for the 1400 refered to such as leather
of solar panel, but I have never seen them for sale or second hand. Does
anyone know if they are avialable - or excist?
2) I have recently studied Remy's detailed homepage on PCMCIA and CardBus
cards and was
Last night I put the RAM in, rebooted from the 8.6 CD
and verified that it saw the RAM. (By the way, when
booting off the CD, it would say that the disk was
unreadable and it wanted to Initialize it.) Next I
decided to try and reinsatll the OS. I tried running
the install from the desktop,
Thanks a lot to those helping with referring to thesupplynet for finding GV

I was beginning to fear something the like. And the trouble is the GV
dongle has proven impossible for me to get hold on (in Denmark), when I
tried on behalf of a freind last year. Advertising on Mac lists, mailing
to GV or faxing and snail posting their order form gave no reply.
I have got myself a new old Global Village Platinum Pro modem cum
ethernet
card. It works fine as a modem and I have flash upgraded it to 33000.
But I can't get it working as network. When I try to swich Apple Talk,

on my 1400 with 8.5 and on the 190 with 7.3.5 it says something in Danish
Thanks a lot to NN whose name I dont remember but who has three cats and

1) Which Powerbook available used for less than $500 would be good for
e-mail, word processing and -- if possible -- occasional Web access from

I can't get my Pismo to wake up from sleep mode. I can hear it purring,
but I have to force a restart with the command/control/power switch each time.

Be also aware that HDs come in various thiknesses, I think 9, 12 and 15 mm.
And I think the 1400 uses the thinest of these.
And then there are the different sets of holes for the screws...
