I've seen weak PRAM batteries cause all kinds of

How does one replace a weak PRAM battery?

I have an Apple QuickTake 200 digital camera that I'd like to use with my
1400 (OS 7.6.1, 64 meg). Problem is that the PB won't recognize that the
camera is plugged in and powered-up. The QuickTake software was installed
from an original disc and the Camera Acess extension appears to be loading
OK, an admittedly dumb question, but I have to ask: Where can I find OS
8.1 that will run on my PB 1400?

What's the procedure to replace the LCD screen on a 1400? I don't mean
the whole lid, JUST the screen proper. How does the lid come apart?

Based on my recent experience with the Sonnet (466) upgrade, try removing
the battery and AC adapter from the PB and keep the power button depressed
for at least 24 hrs. (I used a paper clip). This resets the power
manager (whatever that is). It worked for me!

This is a followup to my earlier post regarding problems with a Sonnet
Crescendo card on my 1400. The tech guy was right: depressing the power
button for 24 hrs. did the trick. The question now is why?

Tonight I go home, plug it back together and hope for the best. Has
anyone had similar issues with resetting the power manager??
