It would be simply splashtastic to use the 33.6 Modem/Ethernet combo port
on my 3400c. However I cannot seem to get the modem to work (although
the Ethernet works fine - and its the same port!)
I select 3400c Internal Modem in the modem control panel, but I hear no
connecting noises.
It says
Are you sure you have the model with the modem? Just because you have a working
ethernet doesn't mean there's also a modem there. Is the extension for the ethernet
modem installed?

PowerBook 3400/G3 33.6K Modem or something very similar sounding.
And of course you have to choose Internal Modem in the Modem Control
Panel, and the PowerBook 3400/G3 33.6K Script Modem.
