Thanks for the advice. I opened up the PB, did a little bit of pushing on the
connector, and when I gnetly slid the CD ROM into the bay, it WORKED!!! I haven't
tried the Zip drive, but I am hopeful that it will work as well.

When you look down into the bay (with drives removed) can you see any damaged or
missing pins? Anything in there that could be blocking the pins from making a
connection? Does the connector line up perfectly? (I saw a 1400 that had the
board's drive connector bent backwards a bit from drives being
