Finally solved it!
When nicknames persist in the Message To menu in EUDORA, even though
all nicknames are turned off, or even removed from the parent folder,
the fix is
to rebuild the .toc files in the Address Book(s).
Hold down OPTION while opening the Addressbook with the mouse, forcing
okay not a strictly PB issue, but I can NOT get rid of some old nicknames in
my Eudora MessageSend Message To menu, even though there is no sign of them
anywhere else I can see. I have all recipient flags off, but these defunct
addresses keep showing up, making it easy for me to accidentally send
