Have you tried it without the battery in it??? If I leave my 5300 unplugged for a long time it will do the chime and power-on right when it is plugged in... sometimes it wont come on unless I remove the battery. I know its battery is bad though... Just try it one time without the battery and see

craig, you're right. However, I know (I've owned in excess of 800 of the 1xx series Powerbooks) that the 165 can NOT accept any RAM from any other Powerbook, other than a 1xx series.. it will only max at 14mb.. it has 4mb soldered on the main board, and can accept up to an additional 10mb car
