Hi Nina,
It is possible that you got a brand new battery, however, it was brand new
in 1996 (or whenever it was). After sitting on a shelf for that long, it is
quite possible that the chemicals inside are simply worn out.
If you take both batteries to a shop capable of rebuilding battery packs,
