It is odd. I did a clean install of 8.5 which didn't have any trouble
rebooting, and I fired up Civilization 1 just to test. Seemed to
work, but starting Civilization 1 by double-clicking a save game
brought on a hard lock, which it also did under 8.6. Go figure.

I don't own a 1400, but from what I've learned on this list, Sonnet
software and OS 8.6 are incompatible, causing lots of crashes.
The crashes are probably not the fault of the ORiNOCO card or
software - they probably just bring out the inherent issues with 8.6.
