Brian was right, Appletalk won;t work. I was thinking I had used Appletalk
over a USB adapter with my Newton, but remembered that the connection I made
was via serial.
what about networknavigation or webshare ? (if those are the correct
terms in english..)

No.
Give up on the Serial-USB connection, it's not going to work unless
you use terminal software to do something like a Z-modem file
transfer.
Both of what you refer to will not work over USB.
