Odd thing, suddenly I can't open attachments, no matter what kind. I
don't get many, so this may have been going on for a while. I've done the
usual: option-ctrl, check all the boxes, restart. But I get an error each
time I double-click on an attachment: "An STL exception occurred." I

I have multiple e-mail addresses, and receive mail from all of them.
When I compose and send messages, I select the "From:" address I want to
use from the Account pull-down menu. I'd like to have a choice as to
which account is the default, and also to be able to rearrange the order
of those accou
I had the same problem yesterday. I resolved it by doing a "Repair

I like having the functionality of the toolbar available in messages
(after I've double-clicked them to make them larger), but I don't like
having to use View > Show Toolbar for each message. Is there a way to
make this "sticky" so it becomes the default behavior until I change it?

Sorry, Marlyse, my comment was misleading. What I meant to convey was
that, in the Finder-like window that comes up to let me choose the
"PowerMail Files" folder from PM5, the folder is grayed-out. I see it
fine in the Finder itself, and of course it is visible to PM4.2.1.
Steps I've taken:

Yeah, I did. That's the folder in question, named "PowerMail Files".
Since I can't see the folder (grayed out), I can't "see" its contents in
the Finder either.

Tried it twice, threw away the Prefs, tried it again, but the same
result. Clearly I'm missing something. Any advice?

No, I was asking because I didn't want to install the new version if this
feature won't turn off.

Is it possible to turn Off the delete after N days feature?
I keep a lot in my Mail Trash folder that I'm unsure whether I want to
save or not. I'd rather have it set up so that I decide when and which
messages I delete.

Hmm.
I simply highlight the word and use -click (or right-click). It
gives me a pull-down menu with suggestions, Ignore, Learn, etc.

The extra line wasn't it, but I finally fixed it by putting the SpamSieve

Good. I'm still waiting for the next mail from the list to see if I've
fixed it.

I see what you mean. Yes, I do use SpamSieve, but it's set to "Move if
Spam". But wait, it looks as if I have an extra line in the Mail Filter.
I'm removing it & will report the result.

Email from one particular sender (another mailing list) has begun showing
up with its Subject "faded" in the Mail Browser. It's as if I had a
filter set to label it Priority Seven, except that I have no such filter.
Why that one sender? I can think of nothing that's changed about my PM setup.

Figured it out. After trying a number of things, I renamed the index

Hello all.
After a recent crash, I'm having two problems:
1) When I start up PowerMail, I see the error, "Error: Can't open the
index file."
Clicking on the More Info button gives me, "An indexing error occurred
(index)."
Clicking the next More Info button results in, "An indexing error
occurred (
Thanks, Jerome & Chris. That did the trick!

Starting up PM (4.2.1, OS X 10.2.8) this morning I get this series of errors:

After I click my way through the errors, I find I cannot use the Script

What would be nice, is for PowerMail to allow the Mac OS-based M
shortcut, which highlights the first item in the menu bar. Then you can
use the arrow or tab keys to move to whichever menu and menu item you'd
like. Lots of other apps allow this; I wish PM would.

all of my data. Among the missing, my Key for PM. I see no link on the

Well, just as I said, I'm in an app (except PM), I press M, and the
Apple icon is highlit. From there, using the arrow keys, I can go to each
of the menus, pull down items, select, et cetera. First, you have to
enable it from System Preferences > Keyboard > Full Keyboard Access. Now

After using PM for several months now, I have only one enhancement I'd
like to see. With most other OS X applications, I can use M as a
keyboard shortcut to the Menu Bar. This would make life everso much
easier for me if I could use this to easily reach menu items such as
