I had a Dell Latitude D820, brand new, with Vista (immediately after
Vista Launch). I used it mostly plugged in for maybe 6 months or so,
then I discovered the sleep feature. I liked it and I started to use
it for everything. Maybe 5 to 10 cycles per day. Result -> a 9 cell
battery went down the dr

Well, I found the problem. Turns out it was one of the extensions, FoxTab.
Once uninstalled, things were fine.

Why wouldn't you if you don't know how long you're going to be "offline"?
If you only had a few minutes of battery left, who knows how long that
would last in stand-by, probably not over a weekend.

Even my XP box at work has only needed to be rebooted for Windows Updates.
The only other times it's been rebooted was when I've had to move my
cube/office to a new location.

Try disabling your plugins and see if that fixes the problems. It's
likely something doesn't play well with version five-dot-oh. There's
an option "Restart with add-ons disabled" under the Help menu.

Both chrome and firefox seem to be causing me to do complete reboots way too
often. Very frustrating as the speed increases are getting negated by the
