Greetings the List,
I have been working on a design that includes a PSSOP package. The package has a heat
sink solder lug on the bottom. The footprint calls for a central pad with multiple
holes through it between the two rows of pins.
I made the footprint by placing a grid of staggered vias
Our draftsman is preparing documentation for our technicians. On our old CAD (DCCADD)
he could take our DXF files (which were filled polygons) and "explode" them into
unfilled polygons. When he does this for Protel, he gets lines with large dots on the
ends.

Greetings the List,
Our draftsman tells us that the multi-layer issue is not so much of a problem. Our
real problem, it seems, is that when Protel exports a drawing (regardless of whether
it's in DWG or DXF format and regardless of whether it is exported as block or
primitives)he cannot "explo
Greetings the List,
I have been trying to export individual layers of a Protel design to DWG or DXF
format. When I look at the exported files, they have all of the layers on them.
Turning off the layers doesn't help.
Does anyone out there know if there is a way to export only a selected set
Personally, I never use a router. It's faster, but not very elegant. I've found that
spending much time on component placement eases routing tremendously. I would
estimate that 60-80% of my routes are less than 200 mils long and have no corners.

Okay, that seems to be part of the problem, but it raises another question. Does the
single pad in question have to be on the master schematic? I can get the pads on the
master to work, but the sub-drawings are still being difficult.

Yes, I have. I've even gone so far as to cut the designator out of the net list and
paste it into the designator field of the pad. Still didn't help.
Any other ideas?

Hey guys,
I've got a problem I can't figure out. We do a lot of interconnect with wires
soldered into a single pad. We generally designate them as "E?."
I cannot figure out how to relate the pad to the schematic. I've tried using the one
pin "CON1" out of the library. I've tried naming a
I route all my boards by hand, because, while Protel has a router that is better than
the one I used to use, it still does some really dumb things. It's just easier for me
to place parts and route by hand.
I do, however, always use the "interactive routing" option as it saves hours of naming
I call that the "Dumbass touch." :)

I have a couple of questions:
Whenever I update the PCB from the SCH editor, all of the net identifiers of the
traces are erased.
Is there any way to avoid this?
Is there any way to autoname a group of connected traces? I know that you can do it
if you can highlight the net, but I don't seem

I am working on a four layer board and I have been unable to figure out how to get the
internal ground and power planes to link up correclty with the outer layers. The
user's guide says (p594) that you go to the layer stack manager, double click on the
layer, and choose the net you wish to as

My company won't upgrade computers, much less software. Getting a new copy of Windows

I don't know about you guys, but my company just dropped 16 Grand on 99 SE. We can't
