First of all, why're you creating 2 or 3 tracks? You only need one stereo instrument track to make this work. Second of all, are you sure you're creating an instrument track, and not an audio track? Finally, yeah, I don't know what version you have of PT, but if it's version 9, or version

You need to make sure that when you creat the new stareo track that you select instrument and not audio. Then when you go to the incert of that track under instruments all of your instrument plugs should be in there, I would start off with the plugin named, Expand, it has many instrument types.
