I wanted to switch from esd to pulseaudio on my debian etch system. So I
stopped the esd (which worked fine before, using alsa as backend), installed
all the pulseaudio packages, added myself to the pulse, pulse-rt and
pulse-access

I've been fighting for a while now with a problem after upgrading to
Fedora 12: there's no sound output!
First: The hardware is working fine. If I kill pulseaudio and use
mplayer to output directly to the alsa device, it works.
Pulseaudio properly detects the sound card. It is listed

1) Start pulseaudio (per-user),
2) Play something, it works, nice.
