ciao,
i heve just updated to 2.8.1 but it seems that problem still exists.
it seems it is not possible to change the style of fonts (bold, italics) in
the column header of tables inserted into composer.
is this only a problem of mine?

I confirm here, also in master.
This only occurs in Table heading font. With Table contents everything
seems ok.
I will reopen the ticket.

As the author of that commit I'm terribly sorry for the trouble it
caused, I would have never expected something harmless as setting the
parent to have such consequences...

Sandro,
Don't stress. These things can happen now and then. There where other
things that happened that needed to be fixed for a 2.8.1 release anyway so
it wasn't just your fix.

Hi,
Has a decision been made on this subject? Will 2.8 be released with this
bug? Or will skip to 2.8.1 with this bug fixed?
Cheers

Unfortunately the problem was introduced very close to the release. At this
moment it is already fixed in the code of both 2.8 and master, so if you
compile with the current code, you will have everything ok.

It is indeed a very serious.
I know that packaging takes a lot of time and effort, but I wonder if it
wouldn't be better to cancel 2.8 and jump to 2.8.1. since the bug was
already fixed.
This was obviously very unfortunate, but I fear that many people will be
extremely annoyed to find this
