I was confronted to the same issue and was wondering why this message

I tried to disable snapping, save the project and restart QGIS, this
behaviour is still present when I want to insert a new feature. Can somebody

The indexing is used for snapping in the application.
It takes a few sec when enable the first tool, but snapping is much
faster later on.
