If you have installed the GRASS plugin, then make sure the plugin is
active (in the Plugins->Manager) then open a Location/Mapset and off you

in a lat/lon location+mapset:
g.region n= s= w= e= res= ... (set the bounds for you new map)
r.mapcalc "lat_map = y()"

Hi,
What is the best way of getting a raster map (global coverage,
lat-long coordinates) in which the value of each pixel is its
latitude? I'm thinking of digitizing the upper and lower horizontal
limits of the region, giving them the values of the maximum and
minimum latitude (respectively), and
Hi,
if I'm not wrong I believe that what you need is already available.
Just select one/more features and then edit -> copy features.
If you paste the result in a text editor you'll get a csv file.
You can also identify features and in the resulting pop up window you
can right clic and choose m

Thank you all for such a fast reply. Being a member in the user mailing list
definitely has better results than the forum.

Hi Abbas
You could also use the 'Raster terrain plugin' to calculate slope. The plugin
comes as a part of the standard installation. Like this, you don't need to use
the GRASS toolbox (or only if you have more complex analysis tasks).
Then double click the layer to get the raster layer properti
You can use GRASS to georeference shapes, or work with an already georeferenced
backgroud.
