I thinks I have found a solution to your problem (in master only
though). I suspect the same can be applied to 1.7.4 , if gdal-1.9 is
used.
First, make sure that 'crssync' is executed after installing master,
this adds the necessary definitions that are missing. This is probably
why EPSG
your best shot would probably convert first to SLD, now that QGIS
supports it.

One question: how to get a fast raster catalog in QGIS with a big number of
rasters in it? (in this case 400 ecw)
I am having trouble getting this to work... I tried a vrt catalog and qgis just
hangs when I load it.
Reducing the number of images makes it ok.

execute the batch file, I am not setting read-write ones at the same

I used them for a consultancy project and they charged me ~£5 to cover burning
the full size images to dvd and then posting them. They're quite amenable to
